LIVE FROM KINGS PLACE: LOUIS SCHWIZGEBEL + Aurora Orchestra

 

In this concert, former BBC New Generation Artist Louis Schwizgebel makes his Kings Place debut with an arrangement of Mozart’s glorious ‘Coronation’ concerto, paired with Ravel’s Piano Trio. Also featured is a new work, 'Lucid' (2020) by Sasha Scott, winner of the 2019 BBC Proms Young Composer Competition.

'SHAPESHIFTER' - SASHA SCOTT | THE PURCELL SCHOOL CELEBRATES OLIVER KNUSSEN

 

On Sunday 1st March 2020, The Purcell School presented a whole day of stunning music-making in memory of Oliver Knussen, with four concerts given by over 100 outstanding Purcell students, staff, alumni and guests at the Southbank Centre. In the evening, the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra played Britten, Ravel, Knussen, Lutoslawski and a premier of Sasha Scott's orchestral piece 'Shapeshifter' in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre.

SENIOR WINNER OF BBC YOUNG COMPOSER OF THE YEAR 2019

In 2019, Sasha was selected from hundreds of entrants as the only winner in the Senior category of the annual BBC Young Composer of the Year Competition. Her winning piece, Humans May Not Apply, was performed by Aurora Orchestra, as part of the BBC Proms Inspire Concert at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios on 13 August 2019.

Composer and Turntablist Shiva Feshareki presents her monthly show NEW FORMS. Using her own bespoke turntabling techniques, she re-imagines music and sounds from any genre - live - through warped, vinyl-only turntable manipulation. WINNER OF PURCELL SCHOOL ORCHESTRAL COMMISSION 2018 / 'SKYLINE' PREMIER AT CADOGAN HALL

At the age of 15, Sasha Scott was awarded 'The Purcell School Orchestral Commission Prize', a hotly contested opportunity in the Purcell School for young musicians. Her work, 'Skyline', was performed by the Symphony Orchestra at London’s Cadogan Hall on the 19th of March, conducted by fellow pupil Sebastian Kozub.
